Amphan Diaries, 11th June

Mahira Rebuilds…They Say Rebuilding after a loss takes time….we pause, we grieve, we wait, we hope and pray…and then we suddenly don’t wait any longer. We don’t wait for the weather to change anymore.

Here we are as women…beyond just bodies and machines, we start rebuilding even when the wings are soaked in blood or in the angry waters of Amphan.

I continue rebuilding …my pots and pans. And I continue rebuilding my community to fight back the horrors of COVID and Amphan. The panchayat gave me certificates of commitment and achievement in supporting others in my village.

So they say rebuilding takes time. But I thinkI get what I want because I give what I need—surviving, healing, and rebuilding.
