1) The cyclone-affected people in Basirhat II, who had submitted forms for getting relief in the block offices and panchayats, are reportedly uncertain of recieving any help. Some of them, who are part of the Alor Disha, a self-help group, spoke about it when they had met on Saturday. “They are very uncertain of getting any help from the panchayats and block offices in terms of getting relief after the Amphan cyclone. This uncertainty stems from the fact that some of them live in the interiors of Basirhat II, where there’s no electricity as of now and they are unable to carry out their bank work,” Jinnatun Nahar, a social worker at Seth Bagan Mahila Sangha, a community-based organisation said.
2) Sanjog along with its partner organisations Partners for Anti Trafficking and Birangana Seva Samity, continued the distribution of Ration relief and essential supplies in the blocks in North and South 24 parganas. 300 survivors and more than 1200 family members have been receiving such humanitarian aid and hygiene kits throughout last week.
